Are you 18-25 years old*? Are you passionate about young people’s mental health and wellbeing? Would you like the opportunity to get involved with a project aimed at improving young people’s access to mental health services?
This is a joint project led by the VIK participation project at YoungMinds and NHS London, based on needs outlined in the State of Mind manifesto, a document written by young people across London, detailing their 10 key priorities around mental health and wellbeing. This project aims to address point 5 in State of Mind: ‘Tell us where we can go when we need help’, through the development of an online interactive map of services. The ethos throughout the manifesto is one of meaningful participation and young people will be actively involved throughout the process of developing this resource.
We are looking for a motivated and passionate young person (18-25 years) with good communication skills and a commitment to the values of this project. You are able to plan and review work against defined targets, outcomes and timescales and have a good understanding of key issues in children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Working on secondment and reporting to the Head of Quality at NHS London, supported by the YoungMinds VIK Regional Worker, you will assist in researching what young people’s information needs are in relation to accessing mental health as well as facilitating their active involvement. You will assist in the mapping of mental health and wellbeing services for children and young people across London and work alongside a web company in the development of an online interactive map.
This is a fantastic career opportunity for the right applicant, giving the chance to work alongside a successful charity with a national reputation in this field and the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) for the whole of the Greater London area.
*This post is advertised for a ‘young person’ in line with occupational requirements as set out in the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9.
