Labels

Can you see past the labels?

I can see past all your labels,

I can see we are all equals.

I can see the upset it causes,

I can see you have no flaws.

The public see a strange person,

The public see my label worsen.

The public see me at the psych,

The public don’t see what it’s like.

My mates see me as a bubbly friend,

My mates see me playing pretend.

My mates see me as a chum,

My mates don’t see me when I’m glum.

My Family see me when I’m down,

My family see me when I frown.

My family see the frustrating illness inside,

My family didn’t see when I cried.

You see yourself as quite a mess,

You see yourself as full of distress.

You see yourself and you have never forgiven,

You don’t see yourself hide behind the label given.

I wrote this poem as I have just realised that when I first got given a label, I hid behind it ie I cant do that because I have … I think I have just recently accepted it and am proud of my label now so ask yourself Can you see past your own labels? and realise you are a normal person? I also wrote this because of the labels we are given and how we can sometimes be treated. So there is a bit of variation there
